Painting with toy cars and truck wheels

April 5, 2017 by Kate 6 Comments

Painting with toy cars and truck wheels has been on my list of activities to do with my kids for a long time. Fortunately, it’s a wonderfully easy painting activity to set up and is great fun for kids to have a go at. Check out the awesome tyre marks made from that paint!
Painting with toy car and truck wheels. Fun painting activity for kids.

You know me, I love when an activity is super simple, fun and educational and to be honest, I have been kicking myself that I didn’t set this one up earlier. Both of my girls, Possum (aged 5 years) and Boo (aged 2 years) had so much fun with it.

Recommended age: 2 years +
(Strict and active supervision is always required)

To prepare this activity for your children, you will need –

  • Paint
  • Variety of toy cars and trucks
  • Paper

The task is simple for children, make the toy cars and trucks drive through the paint and create track markings from their journey across the paper.

It was wonderful to watch the girls choose a toy and have it drive through the gooey and slippery paint. Of course, the colours mixed really well from this process and the texture of the paint alone created amazing tyre markings in the wet blobs of paint.

The girls found it interesting to see how the colours changed as they drove over the track marks. It was almost like magic!

They also loved to see the variety of tyre marks that were left behind by each toy car or truck. We had fun predicting what the tyre markings would look like before testing out our thinking.

This activity for kids that involved them painting with toy cars and truck wheels was wonderful fun. It was so interesting to see how the colours and marking changed over the duration of the activity and to see the markings left behind by the imprints on each tyre. This activity comes highly recommended by my girls and I.

Has your child you ever tried painting with toy cars and truck wheels?

[…] This year Possum (aged 6 years) and Boo (aged 3 years) wanted to paint hearts on cards. I have to admit, a part of me didn’t really feeling like getting out the paint and having to deal with the clean up afterwards. Instead I suggested that we paint cut our hearts in a unique way, something similar to when we painted paper with toy cars.  […]
