Are you are around children and want to keep them entertained and engaged?
Here is just a sneak peek into what ‘Laughing Kids Learn’ is all about.
You’ll find unique, engaging and educational ideas and activity. Suitable for children between the ages of 0 – 10 years of age and with a variety of skills and abilities.
Let me tell you a bit more about myself.
: I’m a stay at home mum with two gorgeous daughters, Possum (aged 6 years) and Boo (3 years old)
: I’ve spent over 10 years as a primary school teacher
: I value children learning through play and know how to keep them occupied and learning!
Laughing Kids Learn, how did it begin?
A friend with a newborn was inspired by all the simple play ideas I shared with her during our catch ups. She suggested I write a blog so that she and her other mummy friends could follow along. I was keen but had no idea what a blog was, quite seriously!
After a bit of research I launched ‘Laughing Kids Learn’ in September, 2012. I figured if no one read it then it would just become be a great way to document all the fun I had with my babies, however, Laughing Kids Learn has grown to be considered one of the ‘must read blogs for parents’ with children.
Laughing Kids Learn is on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram and Google+. Everyone is also welcome to join my FREE Facebook group >>> ‘Activities for Kids – babies, toddlers, preschoolers and beyond’.
So what is Laughing Kids Learn about?
Check out this quick video, with a catchy tune, to find out more.
What are a few of your favourite ideas?
It’s difficult to narrow down to just a few of the many ideas that I’ve shared, however, I would have to say these are some personal favourites.

Hi Taffen. Congratulations! Once you made the purchase of the ebook you should have received the link to download the book onto your computer. Once you click that download you’re able to print it out yourself, otherwise read it off your computer screen. Let me know how you go.

Thank you for your thoughtful activities and posts. My little man is just a wee one but I look forward to sharing several of your ideas as we all grow. The paint in a bag on a window wasn’t quite a hit, but I’ll keep trying. If you find yourself in Seattle (you say you travel for good coffee) you can come and visit our studio and home. Is that weird? Oh well!
Kate says
Hi Meg!
Thank you so very kindly for your message. I love that you’re so interested to try different ideas with your little guy. Kids can be so different – hahaha. I’ve never been to Seattle but would absolutely love to visit one day. I’ll keep you in mind. 🙂 Lots of love. Kate

I work in Aboriginal Education for DEECD & loved your Clapping Sticks activity and I’d like to share your activity with my team mates as a great example to highlight learning that occurs in an activity that has Aboriginal cultural themes. Great blog you have here. Please email me if you can & love to have a yarn with you.
Cheers

Hi, my name is Lisaa and I work for Korea Arts & Culture Education Service. We publish nonprofit weekly web magazine about worldwide projects, ideas and cases that are related to arts & culture education. Our keyword for the third week of April is ‘children’ and ‘school’, and under the idea category, we are going to introduce the idea of chalk drawing as an art education for children.
We thought this ‘DIY chalk rake’ from Laughing Kids Learn blog is a wonderful idea to introduce to our Korean readers, so we want to ask for your permission to publish some of your great photos and the concept of your idea. We will of course include your website address to inform where this idea originally came from, which can cause Korean readers to also go into your blog and see other wonderful works you have done. Please send me back message if you don’t want your contents to be used. Thank you.

Hello Kate,
I’m a freelancer for the website SheKnows.com, and I’m putting together an article on the best ways to engage a toddler without screen-time.
I found your idea for the pasta bead threading and love it! I’d like to include a blurb about your activity, including one photo with photo credits and a link back to your blog. Please let me know if this is not OK with you!
Kate says
Go ahead! Thanks for the message.

Hi I run a toddler group and it’s always great to find new ideas! I was looking at your sleigh bell rings and wonder what size bells you used?
Kate says
I used the regular sized bells, however, the larger size would work too Fiona.
Margaret Tilley Jasmin Park Integration Tutoring Services says
Hi Kate,
Thank you so much for your blog pages and books etc. I have been an Integration aide and direct care Disability worker for over 15 years. I have on numerous occasions had to design supports for the various people with all levels of abilities to enhance their interactions in life. I now find myself looking to people such as yourself for inspirational ideas for my Fun, Educational and Disability Support venture that I have which started in 2006 initially to tutor in homes. After years and all kinds of experiences found I needed to revamp and change my format some what. I have a growing interaction support based shop, that I take to country markets near Alexandra, that we will be taking mobile soon as we are building a specialised trailer. I have had people take my cards back to N.S.W and other areas. Some visitors have been teachers and carers including for the older generation. Your ideas are going to be well used. I hope I can pass on your Laughing Kids Learn ideas, books etc through my venture. Like yourself, I enhance sensory learning and we all learn in and by different mediums. The more fun, the more they want to play, the more vital life learning skills are enhanced. Thank you again and please keep up the great work. Small steps can lead to great things.
Kate says
Thank you so kindly Margaret. You sound like an absolute gem and those in your care are very fortunate. Best of luck with anything. Feel free to email me if there is something in particular you are looking for -laughingkidslearn@gmail.com

Hi Ms.Kate
Good day!
I am a 4th year College Student at Our Lady of Fatima University, Philippines and I would to ask if you will give us the permission to use your activities/ideas (Pom Pom drop Stem Challenge) for our research.
As we read on your page in Pinterest, it’s show that it can help the child’s think creative on how he/she will set up the tubes. So in our finding of many activities for our creative thinking skills we choose your ideas to be one of our activities in our research entitled “The Performance of the Gender Groups of Grade III Learners in relation to Creative and Critical Thinking Skills”
Please let me know if you require any further information.
Thank you for considering my request.🙂
Please Ms.Kate notice my request I already contact you in Facebook, gmail and Pinterest 😞
Kate says
You may use my ideas, but you must NOT use any of my images. Thank you.
