If you could have any super power, what would it be? Lots of children love superheroes, especially Batman and Superman, and so in this post I’m going to share how to make superhero cuffs using toilet roll tubes and coloured paper. This is a great activity for boys an girls and I love that children can decorate them however they please.
There is something so powerful about superheroes. It doesn’t really matter if you have a favourite or not, the idea of pretending to have super powers is attractive to kids of all ages, even adults (hello super cleaning powers!). With kindergartens and schools committing to book week each year and children regularly requesting to have dress up birthday parties, these superhero cuffs might be a great option for your child to make and wear while recycling at the same time!
Recommended age: 3 years +
(Strict and active supervision is required at all times)
How to make Superhero cuffs using toilet rolls tubes
You will need –
- Toilet rolls x 2
- Coloured paper
- Glue stick
- Scissors
To make a Batman superhero cuff
Begin by covering your toilet rolls in black paper. You can have your child colour the toilet roll black using coloured pencils too.
Simply cut a yellow circle and attach it to the paper toilet roll with the glue stick.
Roughly draw a bat shape on the back of a black piece of paper, cut it out carefully using the scissors and attach it over the yellow circle. You might like to google the image on the internet and trace any great batman symbols you find.
How to make a Superman superhero cuff
To make a superman toilet roll cuff you need to simply follow the directions above, however, cover the toilet roll in blue paper and attach a yellow triangle.
Roughly draw, cut and paste a letter ‘s’ for Superman or google the Superman symbol and trace it.
Once you allow the cuffs to dry, simply cut the toilet roll down the back and fit it over your child’s arm. Of course if your child wants to be Batman, for example, then be sure to make two of the same cuff for them to wear. Cuuuute!
If Batman and Superman are not of interest to your child then you might like to design and decorate their own superhero cuffs. You could use glitter, feathers, pompoms….the possibilities are endless.
What super power would you like to have?
