When you’re looking for a craft that your children can do and it doesn’t need many materials, don’t go past this sweet idea. It’s a simple paper bag doll craft for kids to do either at home, on school camp or just as a cute craft to make in the classroom.
I’ve been feeling very poorly lately and nabbed myself a terrible head cold. As a result, I have had to give myself as much rest as possible and encourage Possum (aged 5 years) and Boo (2.5 years) to entertain themselves.
I was absolutely thrilled to see that Possum created the most amazing paper bag doll I’ve ever seen and we are so excited to share it with you. It’s wonderful and she made it so easily.

Simple paper bag doll craft for kids
To make one of these amazing paper bag dolls you will need –
- Paper bag
- Rock
- Masking Tape
- Pipe Cleaner
- Felt strip or pieces of yarn
- Coloured pencils or pens
Begin by placing a large rock, which will become the head, into the inside corner of the paper bag. Scrunch the corner of the paper bag around the rock to form the head shape. Use masking tape around the base and continue to wrap the masking tape up over the head.
Next place the strip of felt (or pieces of yarn) across the top to make the hair and secure it using another strip of masking tape.
Wrap a length of pipe cleaner around the middle of the paper bag to create the look of arms for your doll. You might want to add another piece of masking tape to the back of the doll to secure it in place.
Next, all your child needs to do is decorate the paper bag using the coloured pencils or pens and draw on a face! Now your doll is ready to play with. You might like to create a whole family of paper bag dolls and build a wonderful set for them to enjoy.
Sometimes our child can really surprise us with what they can come up with during moments of boredom or ‘free time’. I think the more opportunities I give my children to experience boredom the more creativity they show me.
Do you give your child moments of boredom?
