Brought to you by Vitasoy
I’d love to share with you something super delicious, healthy and a treat your kids will ask for time and time again. It’s my simple choc mint banana smoothie using Vitasoy soy milk.
I know what it’s like, it can be like striking gold when you find something that is nutritionally good for your child and they actually see it as an indulgent treat. Well, this choc-mint banana smoothie is exactly that. The added bonus is that it’s also easy to make and you can get your child involved in putting it together.
Making the change to plant based Vitasoy milk
It came as a surprise to us that Boo (aged 2 years) had an allergy to a particular type of milk. It meant that we were forced to make some big changes to the milk we drank at home and as a family.
Standing at the grocery store refrigerator, however, I was quite overwhelmed by the variety of choice of milk that is now available. One brand that stood out to me and one that I’d heard lots of great comments about was the Vitasoy’s Calci-Plus. With Boo’s growing body I was conscious about calcium and so switching to this plant based milk, with the added calcium, seems like the perfect choice. It is also a choice that we have never looked back from.
Calci-Plus by Vitasoy is not only great choice for our family; it’s so delicious and can very easily be included in lots of family friendly recipes.
Simple Choc Mint Banana Smoothie using Vitasoy
In my opinion, Vitasoy is a very simple and enjoyable way to add more plant-based nutrition to my family. I’ve also been able to come up with lots of great recipes that include it. I also like that if I’m ever stuck for ideas I can jump on over to the Vitasoy website and pick something from their wonderful recipe library.
But hands down, one of our family favourites is my simple choc mint banana smoothie using Vitasoy Calci-plus milk.
Ingredients –
- 1 banana
- 2 teaspoons of Cacao powder
- 2 large mint leaves
- 1/2 Vitasoy soy milk
Oat milk, coconut milk, rice milk, almond milk, whatever your choice, Vitasoy have a large range of plant based products and there is something to suit everyone. All of their products will suit this recipe so you can substitute it with the milk you choose.
Method :
Simply combine all of the ingredients into a blender and combine until smooth and creamy.
Some children can be sensitive to the texture of a smoothie and so you can easily adjust this recipe to cater to their taste. Add another banana for a thicker texture or an extra half a cup of Vitasoy for a smoothie that has a thinner texture and is easier to drink.
Using the 2 large mint leaves is not overpowering to this recipe. It is just enough to cut through the rich chocolatey taste and adds a light minty flavour. Delish!
Let me tell you, there are never left overs with this smoothie. This simple choc mint smoothie using Vitasoy soy milk is a total winner in our house and often enjoyed as an afterschool drink.
As a family, we feel really good to have made the simple switch to Vitasoy. It has been a lot easier than I first thought and I like that it means I’m including more plant based nutrition into my family’s diet.
How do you include plant based foods into your families diet?
