I love using an object, such as a golf ball, that seems so far from being involved in paint and simply throwing caution to the wind and just seeing what happens. Children absolutely love this approach too because it’s experimentation!
- Paper
- Long and empty cracker box
- Paint
- Golf ball
- Dry and wet towel for easy clean up
The pictures turned out really well and the ‘pimples’ in the golf ball created an interesting pattern. The children continued to want to experiment and try the painting technique using different coloured or textured paper, change the way they shook the box etc. It was great watching them play.

Oh, I keep meaning to do this activity! I keep thinking about little N throwing a paint covered golf ball down the stairs though and just how far that paint could travel lol. Having it in a tube could stop that! haha. PS I thought they were called, “dimples” in a golf ball. lol ๐

BA hahaha the probably ARE called ‘dimples’ and that would make more sense than pimples. Shows how much I know about the game of golf. I think I’ll keep it as pimples for my own amusement. hahahaha
