Foot Prints

January 6, 2013 by Kate 20 Comments

Time pass too quickly and I’m holding on to every moment for as long as I can.

This Christmas I decided to give family members a gift that would allow them to look back and remember how small Possum was when they received the gift. What better way than with foot prints.
You will need

  • Canvas
  • Paint
First I purchased some flat canvases from Spotlight for a few dollars. I wrote a heartfelt message on the back from Possum and set out the canvases to make the task as easy as possible to carry out.

I

It was really very simple to do and turned out to be a great sensory learning experience for Possum. Initially she was a little unsure about the ‘goop’ we were putting on her feet but then she came to love the sensation because it started to tickle. She was also really interested to watch the marks on the canvas.

Once each one was dry I wrapped them up and gave them out as special gifts from Possum. The family LOVED them and are keen to keep them for years to come.
Who knows, they may receive another one in a few years time.

      Thanks Bec.
I really liked writing a message from my baby to their grandparents. It was very special and touching for those who received their piece.

Here’s a great idea for turning those footprints into artwork. We did this for my mom, aka Nana, for Mother’s Day last year and she LOVED it! 🙂 http://media-cache-ec6.pinterest.com/upload/176484879117367766_kCjmvLXa.jpg

  1. Decorating shoes - Laughing Kids Learn says:
    February 10, 2014 at 6:47 pm

[…] You can simply wrap up the materials required so the receiver enjoys the opportunity to decorate their own shoes OR you can have your child personally decorate them and give them as a gift.    Possum had a great time decorating a pair of shoes she will be giving to her older cousin.    As she created the wonderful markings that a toddler does, we talked about colours and described the types of swirls and stripes she was making on the canvas shoe. This is all very helpful in developing language development and Possum’s knowledge of words.  This activity, also found here on Mom to 2 Posh Lil Diva’s, actually required a fair amount of coordination. Firstly, to hold the shoe in one hand, then keep it steady and use a coloured marker in the opposite hand to create the decoration. Both hands were doing well to improve Possum’s fine motor skills.    Finally the decorating was complete and Possum gave them a little test run. 😉    I think she did a fabulous job and I could tell that she really enjoyed herself throughout the activity.    What gifts have you made for friends or family?    See another gift idea here!
