Subitizing games are lots of fun for children learning to instantly recognise a small group of objects without counting them. To consolidate this understanding, I’ve created this roll and build a flower subitizing game.
Flowers not only make us smile, but they can generally fit within any theme of interest your child might have, which is why I created this roll and build a flower subitizing game.
You can get your game by clicking over to my store or visiting TpT.
Recommeded age: 3 years +
(Strict and active supervision is required at all times)
What is subitizing?
If subitizing isn’t familiar to you, it’s when a child (or adult) can, at a glance, recognise a set of objects and instantly know how many there are. So, for example, the dots on a die. Adults will typically be able to recognise two dots without having to count them individually.
Subitizing is a very useful skill to have and is typically learnt early on in a child’s schooling.
Playing games, which involved a 6 sided die is a great place to start.

How to play ‘ Roll and Build a Flower Subitizing game’.
Children can play in groups of 6, as there are 6 different colours children can choose from.
Each child takes it in turn to roll the dice and refer to the chart, which will tell them which piece to add to their flower.
Children must start with a stem to begin.
Once children have their stem piece they continue to take it in turns to roll the dice and build their flower. The first person to collect all their pieces is the winner.
Encourage children to learn the dots on the dice quickly so they can begin to develop their subitizing skills.
This resource is printed in vibrant and gorgeous colours, but there is also a black and white set included in the pack for those who want their child to colour in the flower pieces.
This can be a great added extra to your child’s play.
