Unicorns are incredibly popular among children these days and so I was inspired to create these delicious marshmallow unicorn horn sweet party treats. They are a great snack treats for kids (and adults).
I had one of those moments when Possum (7 years) says to me, while laying in bed and about to fall asleep, she needs to take a treat to school to share with her classmates for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. Gah! What to do?
I sprung into action, grabbed a few bits and pieces from the pantry and came up with the most simple unicorn party food idea you could come up with. Win!
To make these oh-so-delicious unicorn horn treats you’ll need –
- Marshmallow twists
- Icing sugar
- Food colouring (optional)
- 100s and 1000s
Firstly you want to get all your marshmallows ready to dip.
Mix a tablespoon of water with a drop of food colouring to a cup of icing sugar and stir well. Don’t leave any lumps!
Dip one end of your marshmallow ends into the icing sugar.
Sprinkle whatever 100s and 1000s you have on hand.
If you find your icing sugar is too runny and doesn’t sit well on the marshmallow, it’s sliding off, increase a teaspoon more of icing sugar and stir well.
These can easily be stored on some clean baking paper and transported in an air tight container.
As you can imagine, Possum was beyond thrilled at my last minute unicorn horn creation. I have a feeling they are going to be very popular with all of her friends.
