I’ve finally been able to get take a moment to introduce you to our newest family member, who arrived in November, 2014. On the blog she will be known as ‘Boo’. I have to say, giving her a special online blog name has been harder than picking her real name!
The name ‘Boo’ quickly become a nickname that older sister Possum (aged 3 years) began calling her from the moment she arrived. It has consequently stuck within our home and is now used as a sweet term of endearment.
When Possum met Boo for the first time in the hospital, it was quite clear that she was feeling a little overwhelmed, despite all the preparation we’d done prior to her arrival. It was, however, after a few short minutes, Possum began playing a sweet little game of Peek-a-boo, almost like an ice-breaker. It absolutely melted my heart to see their sisterly connection begin within hours of Boo’s entrance into the world.
And so it has continued…..
Sometimes I need to pinch myself at how truly blessed I am to have two beautiful girls in my life. I know I’m lucky and I take a moment every day to feel thankful. It’s wonderful being a family of four. It opens up a whole lot of new challenges but I’m taking it one day at a time and doing my best to enjoy the journey.
So, whilst I may have a bit more on my plate these days, I look forward to continually bringing you all sort of wonderful ways to engage in play with your children. Thank you to everyone who has emailed and shown their support and love. I appreciate it more than you know. X
Such beautiful pictures Kate. I have two girls too and nothing fills my heart more than seeing how they love each other.
Congratulations Kate, she is adorable. It is just the best watching siblings get to know each other xx

My daughter has a couple, NaNa (NahNah) or Sweetpea, as well as an abbreviation of her full name, which ill hold back ๐
Glad I found this place. We are currently awaiting approval for becoming a foster home, and its always wonderful to have another resource handy for having something to keep their little fingers busy!
Cami you sound like a wonderful, wonderful person. Thank you so kindly for your comments. It’s lovely to hear from you and I wish you all the best with being a foster carer. I hope my blog can help in some way. ๐
Hi Kate
Your blog is amazing, I am so inspired. I am a nanny in wellington and your blog is a gold mine. it is so cool. Just wanted to leave you a comment to say how wonderful your site is.
And tell you a funny story about nicknames. My name is christina and i was named after a girl in a story my mum read. the girl was sweet kind and intelligent. Anyway my mum after is was born refused for my name to be shortened and felt very strongly about it. 11 years later my younger sister came along and she could not say my full name so she called me “dina” and that is what everone including my mum now call me. talking to my mother now she can’t believe ho she calls me “dina” it just came to be.
Thanks, you rock.
Christina
