Honestly, how can you go past mini pumpkins and vibrant elastic bands? Haha. Well here for you I share a fun mini pumpkin and elastic band activity that we really enjoyed doing.
I’d recently purchase some mini pumpkins from my local green grocer, unsure what I would do with them. Fortunately I received lots of great suggestions from members of my private Facebook group, ‘Activities for kids’ and started brainstorming.
I was keen to use some vibrant, large elastic bands too. Combining the two I made a fun fine motor activity for kids to try, over Halloween or not!.

Fun mini pumpkin and elastic band activity
It’s really very simple and you don’t need much to set it up
- Mini pumpkins
- Elastic bands
And that’s it!
Have your child do their best and pull the elastic bands over the mini pumpkin.
Of course you don’t have to have coloured elastic bands to do this.
Use whatever you have at home.
Possum (aged 7 years) had no trouble pulling the elastic bands over the mini pumpkins and enjoyed the creativity and unique way to decorate them.
I’m sure you’d agree, they do look so awesome.
Boo (aged 4 years) enjoyed this activity too and it certainly gave her little fine motor skills a good work out.
Of course if you’re looking for more fine motor activities, check out the huge number of posts I have for you.
