Brought to you by Australian Natural Pyrethrins
Let’s be honest, in Australia we have a wide variety of insects that often like to spoil our fun. They hover around our food when we eat, buzz around our ears when we sleep, and often surprise us by appearing when we least expect it! My two girls, Possum (aged 5 years) and Boo (aged 2 years) are always asking why there are so many bugs in and around our home, which probably has something to do with my reluctance to spray toxic chemicals to get rid of them (the insects that is)! Which is why it’s so exciting that there is now a more natural way to keep bugs at bay – one that actually works!
These gorgeous daisies, which are pictured above, are the Australian grown bug-stopping daisies! There is a lot more to them than just being a pretty face
Bug control products featuring the special ‘daisy mark’, pictured below, are guaranteed to contain the 100% natural insecticide active ingredient, PYRETHRINS, extracted from Aussie grown bug-stopping daisies.
Amazingly, this all-natural active ingredient knocks down pesky insects fast! Great news for parents like me who are looking for a naturally smarter solution to control bugs in and around the home.
Even better news is that these products containing Australian Natural Pyrethrins® can be found at your local grocery store or garden centre. Simply look for the ‘daisy mark’ on product packaging, or check for PYRETHRINS in the list of ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS on the product label.

To celebrate this wonderful news, the girls and I decided to get back to nature and make some insect art using bits and pieces of nature found in our backyard. We gathered flowers, rocks, leaves, sticks, twigs and interesting seed pods.
Power of nature
My girls love getting into nature. They find it calming and I’m always blown away how creative they can be with just a few sticks and dried leaves.
In this activity, little Boo was keen to design her own insect, which was fabulous as this is an activity that children of all ages would really enjoy. It was also a wonderful opportunity for her to develop her verbal communication skills as she talked to me about her newly designed insect and what it does. Just quietly, it was a hilarious conversation.
Possum wanted to create a common household fly using the natural pieces from our yard. We decided to include some technology to research more information about flies and what they looked like.
What a result!
It’s amazing what children can make using a few bits and pieces of nature from the backyard. What is equally amazing is the power of the bug-stopping daisy! Remember to look for the ‘daisy mark’ next time you’re purchasing a bug control product and if you’re wanting more information, be sure to check out the beautiful Australian Natural Pyrethrins website and Facebook page. You’ll be amazed to learn more about the power of nature and the products that are so closely available.
How do you manage insects in your home?

Wow! I never knew about this all natural product, this will allowbmy kids and I to get outside more often. Thanks for sharing.
Kate says
It’s amazing, right Angela! We have previously had to avoid going outside because my oldest particularly attracts mozzies. These products are such a game changer for my family.

Love that fly! I didn’t know that about the daisies, I’ll keep it in mind in future 🙂
Kate says
Thank you Kate! I think nature is so amazing. The daisy flower symbol is certainly one to look out for when you’re next at the supermarket. 🙂

What a cool idea! Love the bug your girls made!
We have so many crazy bugs where we live, I must take a look at that list and see if I can find something better than what we use.
Kate says
There seems to be a product to suit everyone Kate! Thank you for your kind comment about the bugs my girls made. They had so much fun putting them together.

This info came at the perfect time for me as we are JUST learning about gardening at home!! I had no idea you could control bugs like this, we will definitely have to give it a go. I’ll be sharing your post with my family tomorrow so we can make some plans 😀 Thanks xx
Kate says
It’s incredible Chelsea, I agree. I feel really lucky that we can now have these great natural products available. Thank you kindly for spreading the word. These products are certainly something people should know about. 🙂

What a great idea, your girls did an amazing job with their insect creations! My boys seem to be a magnet for every type of insect there is and are constantly getting bitten and then reacting to them (probably doesn’t help that they spend most of their days ‘exploring’ in the garden!) and given I have to use it daily, I prefer natural based products, will definitely be checking this one out 🙂
Kate says
Thank you Lauren, my girls had a great time getting into nature and turning it into art. I totally understand where you’re coming from. My girls love being outdoors but the bugs and needing to use sprays can really put you off, which is a shame when they are kids naturally wanting to explore. These products with the daisy flower are amazing and I have found work just as well (if not better) than the nasty chemical sprays.

The craft projects are so cool – my older kids will love them just as much as your littles. I’ve got a serious fly issue happening at the moment at our place, so they are just pests right now. I’m so glad to hear about this natural product to help control them as I’ve been worried about the amount of fly spray we’ve been using. Just quietly, I’ve also noticed the Banlice product on their site… shhhh…
Kate says
It’s so great to have an alternative to the common sprays that we first think to use. Totally agree with you Bron.
Kelly says
I use this product too.
Kate says
So amazing, right Kelly! We are huge fans too.
Pen says
Bug stopping daisy he he. Natural products are always the way to go!
Kate says
Totally agree with you Penny. Daisies are pretty and powerful. 😉

Hi Kate. Love the idea of getting children to admire the features of insects, collect natural items and get crafty. Lets all be inspired to be more outdoors and connect with nature.
Sorry to say I was a bit stunned when I clicked the link to ‘Australian Natural Pyrethrins’ that it is a link to Insect killing sprays. Eeek. ( I thought it was leading to the wonderful drawing of the insect)

Found your link on Pinterest. Love the activity but was wondering if you had a link to the insect cards. Would love to be able to print them.

That’s so wonderful Denise. I just used images off the Internet. 🙂
