You’re going to adore this, it’s a handmade Easter pop up toy craft for kids. They are simple to make, your child can make them whatever characters they like and they are endless fun to play with. Perfect little craft to make in the lead up to Easter and a nice alternative to chocolate.
I love my local craft store. I’m sure they can see me coming from a mile away and expect me to be browsing the aisles for as long as Boo (aged 2 years) allows me to. I’m always in search of a fun activity or something that I can try.
I recently came across a pop up puppet pack and I couldn’t wait to give it a go at home with the girls. I knew they’d love them and be entertained by the whole process of putting it together.

Handmade Easter pop up toy craft for kids
With all the materials, I decided we could make a pop up rabbit and chicken, which suited our Easter theme. So to make this you will need –
- Paper cup
- Egg shaped polystyrene ball (you could use round too)
- Googly eyes
- foam pieces
We started by painting the paper cups using some craft paint. It was great to start with this as it allowed the cups to dry whilst we focused on the next step.
Next we added some foam pieces for the nose, beak and rabbit ears. We also added a feather on top for the chicken head. The eyes were next, which the girls had fun glueing on and really making their character come to life. Finally we added a skewer to the bottom of each foam head and left them to dry.
Once everything was dry Boo was keen to add a few sticky foam pieces to her cup. I created a small hole at the bottom of each cup and threaded the skewer through. All that was left was for the girls to have fun playing with their gorgeous and handmade Easter pop up toy. There really were easy to make and lots of fun to play with.
